Tarlabasi House Museum

My project represents a museum of the house in Tarlabası-an infamous poor quarter of Istanbul. As Tarlabası is being disintegrated through an imposed urban renewal project, the aim of the museum is to protect the neighbourhood and its story. To celebrate and preserve its rich elements and memory that within the museum. The proposal consists of three parts: a community centre, an interpretation centre and a house museum gallery which is re-using 5 existent houses. Ultimately, the project is about sensitive intervention in existent fabric- demolition, structural frame insertions, new extension, and greening surrounding.
